Geochemical
researches for oil and gas prospecting have been applied
in Russia from the late fifties. For almost half a
century it was consistently improved and it is now
applied as an independent method at various stages of
prospecting.
The main principle of research is
studying hydrocarbon gases, and also non-hydrocarbon
gases, and also non-hydrocarbon gases and certain
litho-geochemistry including He; which yields
rather important information on deep degassing and
tectonic activity. The analyses can include studying
of concentration levels, ratios of some components to
each other, differences from background values and
oher relations between various structures of gases.
Geochemical researches are carried
out by many companies, and every company has developed
it’s own individual approach, which is constantly under
improvement. We sometimes combine geochemistry with an
analysis of structural-tectonic elements of the areas
(Ring Geosystems)
We apply the newest technology of
geochemical searches of oil and gas using an analysis of
the geochemical components C7-C21, desorbed from bottom
deposits in marine areas and/or from land surface
deposits. The current technology allows us to increase
the efficiency of hydrocarbon searches and also to
forecast a phase condition of deposits. In contrast to
the traditional search methods which use an analysis of
C1-C5 elements; in this technology the spectrum of
studied geochemical components is in a much wider band
up to C21.
We know that every oil and gas field
has it's own individual geochemical code (marker,
fingerprint), which can be identified in a spectrum of
C7-C21 components and this has a residue in the
sedimentary rocks, which cover hydrocarbon deposits.
If
conditions exist to carry out even small geochemical
sampling and researches at oil and gas fields, it allows
us to make precise forecasts of objects and also to
study the phase condition of hydrocarbon deposits.
This technology greatly increases the
effectiveness of:
-
The forecast of prospective
sections of large areas for the purpose of
identification of the first priority objects for
investigation;
-
The search of oil and gas deposits
in difficult geological and structural-tectonic
conditions: cryogenic zones, hydrochloric zones,
tectonically shattered areas etc.
-
The forecast of phase condition of
hydrocarbon deposits at the exploration stage of
geological-prospecting works before drilling
-
The mapping of the productive
contours of the oilfield at the exploration stage of
geological-prospecting works
-
The analysis of the phase structure
of prospecting deposits and identifying of their
productive contours
-
The oil and gas deposits search
both in deep-water conditions and shallow transit
zones.
It’s possible to decrease the risk of
mistaken decisions in planning and carrying out of
geological-prospecting works for oil and gas search if
using this method in coordination with an analysis of
geosystems structures, exactly for allocation of first
priority areas and choosing of deep prospect wells. |
